Spectrum Comm Inc., announced that its Government Services division has been appraised at CMMI for Services Maturity Level 3, and its Go-Box division to CMMI for Development Maturity Level 3. Spectrum was appraised by Neil Potter of the Process Group, and joins those companies successfully appraised for both services and development against CMMI V2.0.

The Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) was developed by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University as a process improvement tool for projects, divisions, and organizations. The DoD and U.S. Government helped develop the CMMI, which is a common requirement for DoD and U.S. Government software development contracts.  CMMI is a process and behavioral model that helps organizations streamline process improvement and encourage productive, efficient behaviors that decrease risks in software, product, and service development.  The CMMI Institute defines an organization at Level 3 as having well-developed processes that are characterized and understood, and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods throughout the organization. At Spectrum this set of standard processes, are captured in the Enterprise Process Model, which served as the foundation for the assessment at Maturity Level 3.

An appraisal at Maturity Level 3 affirms the years of effort Spectrum has invested to ensure all business activities meet top quality objectives in delivering to our customers, internal and external. This successful appraisal builds upon Spectrum’s initial CMMI appraisal at Level 3 for Development in 2020 under V1.3 and the ISO 9001 certification Spectrum has held since 2007.

Jeff Wassmer, Chairman and CEO of Spectrum, stated, “I’m very proud of our Government Services and Go-Box product teams. This assessment validates their commitment to high quality processes which consistently deliver exceptional results for our customers”.
