June 30, 2020 – Newport News, VA Frank Byrum, Spectrum’s Chief Scientist, recently completed a Machine Learning: From Data to Decision course from MIT Professional Education. This was an eight- week course that focused on practical understanding of the tools and techniques used in machine learning applications. There were approximately 120 course participants world-wide; divided into three sections.

The MIT Professional Education and program team selected one awardee per section. About the award, Frank states, “I think the key was actively engaging in the weekly discussion and reading/commenting on other students’ submissions in support of helping everyone learn. I love learning and I always want everyone around me to learn too. I was surprised and honored by the award, especially since it came from the program team.”

CEO Jeff Wassmer states, “Frank is a valued asset to Spectrum and his industry. We are elated, though not surprised, that his knowledge and passion noticeably and positively impacted course peers as well.”
