March 24, 2014 – Newport News, VA & Warner Robins, GA – The Spectrum Foundation hosted events in support of ending hunger in two of our communities – Hampton Roads, VA and Warner Robins, GA where more than 100 employees are based collectively.
On February 22, the Foundation hosted a Strike Out Hunger bowling fundraiser at Langley Lanes on Langley AFB, VA. This event brought in 317 pounds of food and more than $500.00 donated to the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. Five hundred dollars equates to approximately 4,000 meals for families in the surrounding area.
The Warner Robins office hosted a food and clothing drive and donated 184 food items, seven hams, 124 pieces of baby clothing, 22 pairs of children’s shoes and 97 pieces of adult clothing to Sacred Heart Christian Services, an organization that supports local families in need.
Spectrum CEO Jeff Wassmer states, “I am humbled and blessed that our employee-owners are not only passionate about their careers and the mission Spectrum supports, but also about serving those in their community as well. These events were employee-driven and a huge success.”
The Foundation and Spectrum employees will be hosting Relay for Life teams this summer in both locations as well as the fifth annual golf tournament at the Pines at Fort Eustis, VA on September 19.
