On February 26, 2010 the Spectrum Foundation hosted its first Foundation Friday with excellent results. When most employees typically head out to local restaurants and eateries for lunch, the tropical themed employee break room became more like a south of the border fiesta. For a donation, employees were provided a taco bar, various sides and desserts to enjoy. This event not only provided funds for the foundation, but a way for employees to get to know one another and form lasting and meaningful relationships.
The pooled contributions of all participants totaled $280. Due to the resounding success of this inaugural event, Foundation Fridays will be hosted on a monthly basis and organized by members of the Board of Directors and the committees. The Spectrum Foundation represents all Spectrum employees and family members. The Disabled American Veterans organization is the primary benefactor of the Foundation, however various other not-for-profit organizations also recieve funds and donations.
