Spectrum Foundation Hosts 4th Annual Golf Tournament
Newport News, VA – September 26, 2013 Perfect weather and the sound of Army helicopters kicked off the start of The Spectrum Foundation’s 4th Annual Golf Tournament. On September 20, twenty-two teams played at the Pines Golf Course on Fort Eustis in Newport News, VA. Through the charitable contributions of our golfers and sponsors, the Foundation raised approximately $8,000 which will be dispersed to not-for-profit organizations that support Wounded Warriors and other community organizations.

Spectrum Awarded CAAS IV Task Order
July 30, 2013 – Newport News, VA Spectrum, a prime contractor on the CAAS IV contract team received notification that we have been awarded a $4,327,448 contract to support the Air Force Unit Level Unit Command and Control Operations (UL/UC2) mission. This new and challenging work expands Spectrum’s core competency of mission operations support at nineteen locations across the United States. Our UL/UC2 experts will provide their operational expertise for requirements analysis, operational concept development, operator training, and technical expertise with regards to UL/UC2 system implementation and sustainment throughout Air Combat Command. Spectrum is a Key Sponsor of Wounded Warriors at the Run for the Dream
Newport News, VA – June 12, 2013 – Spectrum sponsored participating wounded warriors for the third annual Run for the Dream race weekend occurring May 31 to June 2. Spectrum’s contributions enabled all wounded warriors to participate for free in the races which included an 8K and half marathon in Williamsburg, VA. Twenty handcyclists participated in each race and an additional 60 wounded warriors participated as runners or walkers. Spectrum’s contributions also provided a dinner for the handcyclists and a VIP Reception at the Williamsburg Lodge in honor of Wounded Warriors. Funds further allowed the first 50 wounded warriors who signed up to receive a free hotel room and extra Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg tickets. (more…)
Spectrum Employees Participate in Relay for Life, Raising Funds in the Fight Against Cancer
Newport News, VA & Warner Robins, GA – June 5, 2013 – Employees from three Spectrum locations represented the Spectrum Foundation by forming Relay for Life teams. To date, the teams have collectively raised more than $9,000, exceeding our $7,500 goal. Spectrum matched donations for all locations. On Friday, May 17, more than 25 Spectrum employees and family members participated in the Hampton, VA and Perry, GA walks. Some even stayed overnight in the Hampton location, powering through rain and thunderstorms. The company’s MA team walks on Friday, June 14 at the Westford, MA event and continues to raise money in the fight against cancer. (more…)

Spectrum Wins New MC-12 Task Order
April 19, 2013 – Newport News, VA Spectrum was recently notified that the firm has been awarded a $4M five year Task Order to support our MC-12 customer at the 9th Reconnaissance Wing. We will be a subcontractor to The Rockhill Group, Inc (TRG) and this work will be performed at Beale AFB, CA. Spectrum will provide Aircrew Training and Courseware Development in support of the MC-12 Sensor Operator Initial Qualification Training (IQT) program and MC-12 Mission Qualification Training (MQT) program. Spectrum was recently ranked #13 in the large employer category on the 2013 Best Places to Work in Virginia list. This marks the second year Spectrum has placed on this distinguished list of VA companies.
The annual list of “Best Places to Work” was created by Virginia Business and Best Companies Group. This survey and award program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the state’s economy, its work force and businesses. Spectrum Hires LoriAnn Penman as Director of Human Resources
LoriAnn Penman, MBA, SPHR, CCP joined Spectrum in October 2012 as Director of Human Resources. LoriAnn brings with her over twenty years of experience in human resources and business management. Her areas of expertise lie in compensation and total rewards, recruiting and retention initiatives, employee relations, and aligning human resource strategies with organizational goals. Her early career was spent as an accountant and corporate controller in the financial services and real estate industries. During this time, Human Resources fell under her management scope, and she has been focusing on it exclusively since 2005, holding leadership roles in the financial services and government contracting industries.
